It was just after two in the afternoon. I had run out of creativity on the computer. I wanted to go out. Take a scenic bus ride, end up somewhere. Where? Someplace that sold the eyeshadows and eyeliner I had run out of. The mall, with Macy's, a semi-short bus ride away.

The 57 bus to LakeForest dropped me off at the stop just before one of the lower parts of the mall. LakeForest is a low-end mall, catering mostly toward teenagers in groups, parents and children. No high-end makeup stores or too pricey clothing boutiques. A simple mall. It is always crowded and intense, and can often make one's head spin. Most people do not make the indoor journey alone.
Assailed by the sounds and sights and scents and lights. On level with Waldenbooks; I ducked in there first because books always call my name. But I found no book I wanted. I made my way down the escalator, toward Macy's determined not to deter myself from my goals. At Macy's I saw the Clinique and Origins counters right beside each other; perfect. At Clinique, I bought the eyeshadows (Color Surge Super Shimmer in Platinum and Touch Tint Shimmer in Gold Shimmer). At Origins, I bought the eyeliner (Automagically in Jade) and a bottle of Pomegranate Body Wash (with real pomegranate). I hurried out into the mall once more and moved quickly along the throng. As I made my way toward an exit, the Godiva shop pulled me. I bought two milk chocolate truffles and a chocolate-drizzled chocolate chip cookie. And then I left the mall and made my way across the parking lots, across the street, to the LakeForest bus transit center, where I boarded the 57 bus toward Shady Grove. Across from me sat a man with his young daughter; she was insisting it was snowing (it was drizzling rain), while he was joking that it would never snow here again. I joined in the coversation. We got off at Laytonia together; as it turns out, we are neighbors.

I came home and turned on Channel 207, The Tube. Just as I had finished one truffle and settled back online, Jason came home and made an announcement: At the party he'd been at last night, there had been a mysterious stray kitten wandering inside the house. Around four months old, looked like Tuesday. Female, incredibly friendly and sweet. Jason said that as soon as the owners of the house were up and moving, he'd call and we would head over there to make sure the kitten does not belong to a neighbor. If she doesn't, she comes home with us. I called Adam and he instantly said yes, of course. Wish us luck.
