Comcast had a spot open this afternoon, so we had a guy come to the house sooner that we'd thought -- which was fortunate, since nobody would have been home Monday. The problem had been with the cable box in the backyard: the neighbors had called Comcast a few days ago, but the job had been very sloppy, and the cable connecting to my service had been cut. Our guy put in a temporary above-ground cable, and said that someone would be back to put in a new underground cable. I don't think we will be charged. We'd better not; it had been the company's fault to begin with.
After making sure our services worked, Adam and I went shopping. Since Billy's birthday is in a couple of days, Adam bought him a rock tumbler, to go with the rocks and gems that Billy and Charlotte had brought back from North Carolina. We're at Charlotte and Billy's house now.

In other good news: Penelope now has her new home. Charlotte and I met with [livejournal.com profile] sealgair and her father, Brian, on Saturday. We went back to my house and introduced Brian to Penelope. They immediately liked each other. So, we put Penelope in a carrier, and Charlotte and I went with [livejournal.com profile] sealgair in her car while her brother and father followed, to Brian's townhouse. I brought the half-full bag of Blue Buffalo cat food I'd been feeding Penelope, plus a brush and a toy mouse. Brian already had a litter box and food dish ready. Penelope immediately took a liking to his living room. I'd never seen her so relaxed. We spent some time there, and then [livejournal.com profile] sealgair drove me and Charlotte home and stayed for a while. I definitely want to hang out with her more.
I got an email from Brian today. He had changed Penelope's name to Penny, and reported that she was very timid, but extremely affectionate and friendly. I know she'll adjust quickly, as she has no other cats to worry about. So, the story of Penny the cat has a very happy ending.
