So, my husband's increasing back pain has been diagnosed as a slipped disc. He has a back brace and medication and an appointment for physical therapy on June third (because they're booked solid until then; all the other places he called are booked too, rrgh). And he had a nice talk with his boss about rearranging his work schedule for the next few months. At least he'll be closer to home for a while so he can attend PT and all. The doctors said he should have filed for workman's comp. I am praying to Isis that he won't need surgery, that the disc issues can clear up with PT and medication. It can happen, right?
If anyone has stories and advice to share about slipped discs, let me hear them.

In happier news, Rose and Jupiter are slowly becoming friends. Jupiter is still in distant babysitting mode, but he's touching Rose more often; they do that nose kiss a lot. Luna, on the other hand, is still giving Rose the stink-eye. She doesn't seem to mind that the kitten is existing in her house, but she just won't touch her. It's very weird. Luna is so loving and friendly, we assumed she'd be all motherly. And we assumed Jupiter would be all territorial. Rose, in the meantime, is happily innocent in all of this. She follows us around the house and sleeps on the pillows between us, sometimes snuggled right under our chins. And she talks. A lot. I've never had a cat quite like her.

Life is full of surprises.

Guess what my husband got me?
The Oblivator Full Tang Katana Sword.
(Although I prefer this description.)

Him: It's a perfect weight for you.
Me: Ooooh.
Him: You can wear it at your waist, since your arms are too short for the shoulder strap carrying.
Me: Ooooh.
Him: You can use it when you practice tai chi.
Me: Ooooh.
Him: And we can use it with magic rituals, like we do with my sword.
Me: Ooooh!

Adam also bought a gift for my father: The Triangular Masonic Pocket Watch. My father just completed his third degree in Masonry. Yep, my dad is now privy (or will be) to secrets of the universe that most people shouldn't ever know.

He also got a dozen tiny sharp stabby things. We plan on giving them as gifts.
