Someone who was beta reading my novel once made this comment in her email to me: "Wow, I didn't know Kara is bisexual. You should write more about that, otherwise how will people know?"
And as I was trying to write a reply, all I could think was "Uh..." and "Um..." and "...er?"
Because my character's sexuality has nothing to do with anything. It's part of who she is. Her eyes are light blue. She's very pale. She's studying medicine. She's had a couple of girlfriends in the past. Next!

Can I ask you a question, LJ friends? Do you think it matters? Do you care? When you read stories or watch shows and characters casually mention their non-heterosexuality, do you even think about it?

Also, I just did a Find through my novel's Word Document, and I cannot find the scene in which Kara casually mentions "one of my old girlfriends" - and it puzzles me, because I know damn well I wrote it.

So, I just made brownies. By myself. For the first time in my life. Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate Brownies. I always made my mother, and now Adam, help me, because for some reason I never thought I could bake well. Oh, well. I did it well.

Adam was called to work tonight. It was his day off. But he went, because he almost always says yes. But he wants to have a chat with his boss, because this is getting crazy. The job is in downtown DC, so he'll be close to home. I'll see him probably around four or five in the morning, and he'll probably have tomorrow off.

My left hip has been stiff and achy all day. Also, the right knee, the sciatica in my right leg, my lower back, my left shoulder, and my right wrist. I'm getting tired of this. One of these days, my entire body will work the way it is supposed to. Or it will all fall apart. Either way, I'm happy to have a cane, a wheelchair, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, massage treatments, and medical knowledge.
