Oh look, white stuff
Dec. 5th, 2002 11:38 amWe're expected to get up to eight inches of snow today; the federal government is on liberal leave, which means my company is also on liberal leave, but I came in today anyway because if I stayed home, they would have taken it out of my personal time, and I haven't accrued enough time to afford it (and this is the longest run-on sentence I have ever written; eat your heart out, Charles Dickens).
It's actually a good thing I came to work, because the only other librarian is out unexpectedly. Overall, there are only 60 people in the office--ten are secretaries, the rest are scattered lawyers and staff members. We may or may not leave early. It doesn't really matter. All I know is that I'll be taking a cab home instead of the bus and walking, just to avoid slipping on ice or soaking my pants with snow. Eight inches is a bitch. (Actually, eight inches is a monster of a man but we won't get into that; yes I know I have a dirty mind, you all made it that way!). Must remember to stop at a working ATM either during lunch or before getting on the metro.
Don't feel bad. Adam went to work too. So did Lex, who was there at stupid o'clock this morning. So did Bernie, Libby, and probably a lot of other people. I can't wait for the federal government to be closed. That'll just be *interesting*!
