When I got diagnosed with my disability, I explained to my parents that when I couldn't ride a bike, it was because of my balancing issues, not because of laziness.

My parents were baffled. "You're not really disabled. You're just soft."

Me-Medical doctor. Medical. With shiny degrees. Diagnosed me.

My Dad-Don't be so negative. You may just be a false positive. The only disability is a bad attitude

My Mum-Surely you don't want to be disabled.

Me-I suddenly get Lizzie Borden's motivations.

I love my parents, but...argh.
