Novel ideas
Aug. 5th, 2004 01:47 pmThis is making feel much better, now that
morningstar4 and I are starting to critique each other's novels. I've been in a slump. I needed another beta reader. Adam has started in on his weekly nudging me to continue with the book. I've asked him to help me gather up the entire set of LE Modesitt's Recluce series to read again -- as it turns out, Adam actually bases almost all of his chaos and order magic on Modesitt's model. And it does work. Charlotte's recovery from the endometriosis and hysterectomy has sped up considerably since the night Adam did the healing. I didn't realize LE Modesitt knew so much. Clever author, outlining an entire how-to manual for magic disguised as a wide-spread fantasy fiction series. Considering that my own book lies along similar lines, it's absolutely worth it to see how Modesitt weaves fact into fiction.
Or maybe we're all crazy and magic's not even real. Eh. *grin* I've heard worse from the fundamentalists.
The characters (except Jeremy, of course) met me last night in a dream. We all sat around to discuss where to go next. This should become intriguing.
