Thinking to myself about the supplements

I take them every single day. With most of my supplements, I take them only on weekdays and I skip weekends, so that I have two days to let my body readjust and such. But those particular supplements -- Taurine, GABA and Carnitine -- I try to take no matter what, just like the birth control pills. I treat them like real medical drugs. I take one of each in the morning, and then I also take one of each if I ever feel an aura, which isn't that often. The auras, if they happen at all, are triggered only by particularly intense instances of exhaustion, excitement, pain, extreme emotion and/or too much overwhelming confusion, like heavy crowds, flashing lights, loud constant noise, etc. And they don't always happen. I was amazed that I had not really felt anything during the hectic wedding and house preparations this past May.
So far, over the past seven months, I have really been able to control them. If I feel even the slightest twinge, I take the pills and I do breathing exercises and focusing exercises. So, no strict drug schedule, which is lovely! But I do carry around the pills with me wherever I go.
I am seriously, truly fascinated by modern medicine and real medical marvels, medical discoveries. I love what science and chemistry can do. I love exploring and researching and probing the depths and heights of medicine and treatments. I wish I was smart enough to be a scientist or a doctor, or a chemist; I would like to take the best parts of L-Taurine, L-Carnitine, and GABA, and put them all in one pill, and work with that. I would want to learn about why all those specific side effects happen and how to possibly dampen or avoid them. I envy people like Danny and Beca who got to touch the hearts of genes, biology, chemistry. I don't have that type of intelligence, but I have the passion and the enthusiasm to want to learn, even though that's not enough to earn a piece of paper.
