Guess where I'm not?
Work.
I hate this virus.
It's almost out of me, but the last bit is really clinging with all its might. I've had a few asthma attacks since I woke up. Adam and Dan took the day off, and Lex is here as well. I have company. They are recovering from hangovers, but they are amusing for company.
I promised myself and my boss I'd be in at work tomorrow if it kills me. I don't like being away from work sick for a whole week.
Time for more oil of oregano, Albuterol, and cold medicine with guaifenesin.

not for nothing, but you likely have a bacterial infection, not a virus. as such, you should really see (or have seen, more's the pity) a doctor and get thee some antibiotics.

That was a thought at first. But I checked my symptoms, and I have all the symptoms of a classic cold virus, according to this:
http://www.jeffreywarber.com/hc%20pages/bacterialvirus.html
No colored discharge, no specific localized symptoms. No sinus pain. So I don't want to bother my doc yet. I do feel better, just not enough to go to work. Mom (and her holistic doc friend) says the oil of oregano works the same as antibiotics anyway, and I noticed that since I started taking it, I've needed acidophilous tablets...
Does that make sense? I don't wanna put myself through unecessary prescription antibiotic hell. The last time I had bronchitis, I did that, and it turned out to be viral, and my digestive system really paid for it! :(

no matter what the web says, no "classic cold virus" keeps someone out of work for a week unless the have basically no immune system. not to say you have a bacterial infection, just that whatever you *do* have is more likely to be, say, bronchitis.

i have heard about oil of oregano having anti-bacterial properties. i find that most interesting. maybe i should have tried it. although the Z-pac has helped me immensely (hey look, i can walk again!) my stomach is none too pleased with me for it.

well, whatever you do, if you are not better by monday you really should call a doctor just to get seen because anything that lasts that long, whatever the cause, could indicate a serious underlying condition, and the doctor can give you (at the very least) advice on what to do to maximize your wellness.

PS whoever wrote that web page is a fucking simpleton. according to that, i should have not been on antibiotics when i had pneumonia.

PPS i know i sound cranky and i am sorry. i *am* cranky, but i am not cranky at you. apparently my general crankitude is coming through in waves today. sorry sweetie. i really do love you and think you made a good, informed choice to not put your body through antibiotics and i can't wait to see you sunday.

*nods* Yeah, I guessed bronchitis from the beginning. Viral bronchitis CAN keep me out for a week though, because my lungs are underdeveloped and weak, and the asthma kicks in hard. So there was no question about that. Remember a couple of years ago when I got hospitalized? That was a virus, and a nasty one. I actually was home sick from a Monday till a Thursday too...

Yeah, that site is pretty moronic... but it was the first link I clicked on. ;)

Oh, honey, it's all good. I'm cranky too (as my mood icon shows). I actually just called my boss and told him how much better I was feeling. He had suggested I find Mucinex, which is nothing but overglorified large amounts Guaifenesin. I got that in generic CVS multi symptom cold tablets. It really has made a world of difference. I think by tonight I'll have beat this monster.

Sunday, yay! Oh, that makes me feel awesome. Aaand... you get to see my new engagement ring! Lee mailed it out yesterday. It should be waiting for me at work tomorrow!! Mom says it's beyond gorgeous and perfect for me and even has these nifty designs etched into the band so it's extra sparkly.

sweeeeeet.

i love musinex, it really helped me. if you want to try it i recommend the DM, it has guafinesin with some sort of cough suppresant so it clears you out and lets you sleep. be careful of the multi-symptom cold tablets; they tend to have acetaminophen in them and that is a nasty bit of business!

Mucinex is awesome. I loves it so. But it is expensive shit, at least for my boss. He needs to take something like 1200 mg every day! It helps him breathe.
I dealt with the multi-symptom tablets cuz I had a headache, but next time I'll just find something with guaifenesin. I wish they sold Mucinex at CVS!
