Happy 2003
Dec. 31st, 2002 05:25 pmMy New Year's resolution:
1. Gain weight by eating more often (how many resolutions say that?)
2. Spend more time writing my novel and possibly finish it, then try and get an agent.
3. Learn to drive (yeah, yeah, everyone shut up)
4. Save money to buy a house.
5. Worry less, live more, relax, lighten up.
I'm also endlessly thankful that I (still) have a great job and have every chance of keeping that job for as long as I want. I even got a holiday bonus! Gross pay was $350, after tax was $203, but it still added funds to my bank account, so yay.
On a sad note, my mom's friend Chris just lost her new husband, Doug, to bone cancer. It was very, very quick. We found out on Thanksgiving that he had a growing tumor in his leg. He died just after Christmas. He was her second husband, and he was the perfect guy for her. Really cool. We all would have liked him. He made Chris so happy, happier than she'd ever been...and now, wham. It sucks. It's not right. Doug was a great, great guy. But life isn't always fair. As I said to Mom over the phone, "That's just mean."
Mom is driving to Brooklyn to be with Chris at the funeral. Poor, poor Chris.
Anyway, hope all goes well for everyone else.
