When I was in Sag Harbor, my parents brand new digital scale said I was 97. When I came home to Rockville, the scale said I was 90. two days later, 92. Then, 94. *blinks, shrugs* Y'know what? As long as I feel healthy, I don't really care anymore.

Read a cute Wall Street Journal article about fathers and daughters. Most women said that when their fathers paid them lots of attention and love, they kept that throughout their lives. One woman, though, said that her father never told her she was pretty or that he loved her, so she jumped into bed with any guy who did and had lots of unwanted pregnancies. *shakes head* I'm very glad my father has always been so wonderful. My mother too. I swear they are the most amazing people on the planet.

It's going to be even colder tonight. Grr. After work, must remember to go back to Hechts to that sale and pick up that pair of leather cashmere-lined gloves. Mmmm, leather and cashmere on sale... *drool*

*reads from packet of Hi-Ener-G capsules* Standardized three-Ginseng blend, Guarana, Yerba Mate, Gotu Kola, Green Tea, Jamaican Ginger, Fo Ti, Damiana, Royal Jelly ... oh yeah, I'm awake. Whee!

The Garnier Nutrisse Black Cherry went in on Sunday, and since Monday I've never gotten more compliments. People absolutely love how the dark burgundy goes against my skin and eyes. I mean, they're literally stunned. Never had that kind of reaction to a hair dye before.

Good news: My skin seems to be behaving a little better. Still have those annoying red marks on the right side of my face, but I think that with time and the right products, they'll fade even more. Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Castile Liquid Soap is a good thing.

Better news: On my lunch break, I went to Hechts to find the gloves, and found something better: Handmade, genuine leather lined with pure angora goat hair and lambs wool, with nylon. Retail went for $45, sale sticker said $25. Register said...$12. Damn.
I tested them once outside walking back by keeping my hands bare till they got cold enough, then putting on the gloves. The tips of my fingers still got a teeny bit cold, probably because the gloves were not my exact size (nothing is!) but they didn't turn white, numb, and searing painful like normal.
I never like it when that happens. Must find a way to control better circulation. But at least I'm happy that the gloves will keep the wind out and the warmth in.

Now that's fascinating medicine--parasite infection possibly leading to mental disorders down the road. Makes sense, since there'd be inflammation of tissue in both brain and muscle, maybe some blood toxicity... people developing OCD, severe depression, even autism and anorexia.

What I wouldn't give to work in NIH... especially the neuroscience or psychology departments. All the reading I do won't mean much without classes, certs, degrees... sigh. I know that if I really truly want it I'll go sign up, but I have no time. Reading is better than nothing.

Speaking of, if anyone knows of any books I could dig into, I'd be happy to pounce on Amazon.

I'm reading an amazing book right now--fiction, Caitlin R. Kiernan. "Low Red Moon". Anyone who likes Poppy Z. Brite will love it. It's bizarre, frightening, film-intense and beautiful. I'm almost done. The suspense is killing me. Like it kills characters. *evil grin* Makes me want to run back to my own work. Yay!
