Oh, I love my friends, I so love my friends

My familial friends are amusing. Exhibit A: Saturday night. I wasn't there, but I'll say no more. I'll just shake my head and laugh and say, "I love you guys."

Sunday was lovely. It really was. I am glad I got to be there. And I am really, really glad that everyone came over to our house, because my house is awesome.

I think what seriously touched me was that Beth was there to coach me through a complex partial that had some truly fascinating moments. And I was able to talk through it, describe everything, and realize that hey, it's okay. It really is. I also learned that my muscles do very interesting things during a seizure. I have never seen my arm so relaxed. Odd, and a bit disturbing. I also now know that my blood sugar plummets and bottoms out after some seizures. This is why I gluttonously crave orange juice. And now I understand why my metabolism is so freakishly high, why my muscles are constantly wiry and toned without need for exercise (it's not as lucky as it sounds), and why epilepsy medications are used to treat various other conditions. And why epilepsy is still so misunderstood, why doctors are still mystified, and why we all have so much research ahead of us.
Sigh.

If it's just a funny feeling, or a motor or sensory seizure, and only in one part of your body or brain, it is a simple.
If it alters your consciousness in any way, even if you think you're being fine and normal, if you're having too-intense sensory and emotional overloads, if it involves the whole body, it is a complex.
If it makes a part of your body suddenly tighten, spasm and jerk rapidly with no warning, no control, and an inability to just relax, it is a myoclonic.

So, yeah. Sunday night was a complex. A really interesting one, where I knew I was awake and chatty... but still a complex.
