I've been feeling like a horrible wife and woman for the last three days. I know it was the seizure on Saturday night that caused me to avoid being touched, but I still hurt him and I still hate it. We made love on Sunday. And I'd had all day yesterday but I didn't take it. I made strange excuses.
Today I realized that I will start my period. Hormonal tide.
And now this...
Lunar eclipse in two days.
Doesn't change or excuse me, but it might explain.

Oh. Yes. He is also leaving again next week. Sunday the tenth.
He will be going to Arizona. Phoenix. Probably for at least a week.
I don't have a lot of time.
I don't have time.

I don't really trust a sane person.
-Lyle Alzado (1949 - 1992)

When dealing with the insane, the best method is to pretend to be sane.
-Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962)

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
-Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

There is always some madness in love. But there is also always some reason in madness.
-Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900)

Part of being sane, is being a little bit crazy.
-Janet Long

Sanity calms, but madness is more interesting.
-John Russell

A neurosis is a secret that you don't know you are keeping.
-Kenneth Tynan

There's a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line.
-Oscar Levant (1906 - 1972)

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.
-Robin Williams

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.
-Rita Mae Brown

Everyone Loved The Crocodile Hunter.
This is so perfect.
I laughed out loud, and then there was a tear or three.

"The human brain is a most unusual instrument of elegant and as yet unknown capacity."
-Stuart Seaton

One of the people on my friends list is about to go into the hospital for a week-long test to see how her epilepsy affects her brain. She will be crashed off her medications for a week. She's afraid. She was told that going off her medication would kill her. But she will be surrounded by doctors and they will take care of her. They need to find out what's fucking up in her brain. Hence, they need to induce seizures.
Seizures can be a scary thing.
Sometimes they can be quite pleasant, like the brain tripping the light fantastic, like seeing the color of magic, like going into a whole other dimension, another reality, a new world.
But...
Seizures can be a very scary thing.

Two points to this post. One, to show my support for her even though I do not know her at all, even though I only know her through her words, thoughts and observations here on this live journal. Two, to show myself how real it can be. How strange it can be. How scary it can be.
And how much I need to remember to live.
Just live.
Because the human brain is a strange and funny creature. We don't really know it, this gray beast stranger inside our skull cages. All sorts of things can happen. All sorts of traumas can hurt it, and this is our brain, this is our central nervous system, this is the creature that lives in us that makes us feel what we feel and do what we do. Love isn't in the heart, it's in the brain. Pain is felt in the brain. Emotion, logic, insanity, it's all in the brain. And when something goes wrong in the brain, my gods, what do we do? This is our most cherished creature. This above all else is the thing we must hold dear.
Our brain. Our brain.
Our brain is where God comes from, the mere concept of something higher than us. The brain is the womb of belief and faith. Without human belief -- which is nurtured by the human brain -- gods die. Human faith is the food and blood of gods. This has been proven, for thousands upon thousands of years. For every god that is born, a dozen others die, in the minds of humans.
Humans need their brains. Being able to believe, to comprehend, to understand, makes us the creatures we are. We can feel. We can love. We can pray. We can hope. The brain is the seat of hope. The brain is life.

I don't know where I am going with this anymore. I have hope for this woman, I have faith, and I have love. The brain is a precious precious thing.
Let's keep ours.
