Adam and I are being lazy lazy weekend warrior cooks. We slept until two in the afternoon. We were at Billy and Charlotte's house until one in the morning yesterday after work. I played on the computer while they played a tabletop RPG invented by Charlotte's friend John (who was there with his roommate).
I made coffee, while Adam made littleneck clams for brunch. We put a tablecloth on the living room floor and ate clams soaked in chardonnay and melted butter. A little private picnic. Adam had allowed the clams to breathe in ice cold water for an hour, so they were extra tender and sweet from the wine. We soaked up the clam broth with crunchy Italian bread. We also saved some of the broth to make with spaghetti for tomorrow's dinner.
We made cornbread, which we will eat with strawberry jam. And finally, Adam is making marinated steak skewers for tonight when we go back to Billy's.
Sitting next to me is a huge glass filled with milk, ice, coffee, and a little bit of sugar. I'm drinking it slowly. I have discovered that coffee with milk (or lattes) helps my brain focus immensely and gets rid of minor headaches and makes my muscles stop spasming. All those people who say caffeine is horrible can keep their opinions. Caffeine is a health thing for me personally, just like chocolate.
