Woah.
1800 mg of Ashwagandha and 1800 mg of Gotu Kola.
Totally blew my crown chakra wide open.
This intense rush is making my head spin.
But oh gods it feels good.
No more bone-crushing fatigue, and I'm grinning like a Chesire Cat.
Can't do this every day, it's a bit intense. But damn it's wonderful.
All my muscles are relaxing, slowly, carefully. My pain is gradually fading. This makes me happy.

Apparently gotu kola is good for awakening and balancing the crown chakra...

Looks like I'll be on the way to the health shop to get some gotu kola as I'm trying to balance my crown chakra right now.

My current capsules each have 450 milligrams of powdered herb, and I take two in the morning and two in the afternoon, if that helps.

Li Chung Yuen, yeah! He also ate Goji berries every day -- that is how I know about him. He took Gotu Kola, too, but it was the Goji that really accounted for his long life, according to what I read. I drink Goji juice when I can (the brand is called Gojilania) -- the bottles tend to be expensive, and I'd rather drink the juice without fillers, which costs more. I'd like to drink it every day. It is amazing for energy boosts and anti-inflammatory needs.

The goji berries we get have no taste at all, they've been freeze dried although the plant could be harvested in the UK since we use it in some places as hedgerows.

I've not seen bottles for sale here, something to enquire about.

Is it ok to take ashwagandha if I'm slightly depressed and feeling under the weather? I'm coming down from a very stressful year and to top it off, I've got this idiotic sinus cold.

It should be fine. If you were severely depressed, I'd talk to an Ayurvedic doctor to be certain, but ashwagandha has been know to be very effective in easing mild to moderate depression and anxiety. It can also boost your immune system to help with that sinus cold.

Start with a small dose, then go up. I recommend getting a bottle from SwansonVitamins.com (450 mg per capsule). Take two every morning for six weeks, take a week-long break, then go up to two in the morning and two in the afternoon. After six weeks, take another week-long break. It's best to take breaks from adaptogenic herbs to allow your body to readjust.

(Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, of course. If you feel weird while taking the stuff, stop. Etc etc.)
