*punches diaphragm* COUGH ... there we go
Jan. 27th, 2004 11:49 amI like that the Primatene mist and tablets work for me -- but I hate the jittery nervous shaky ephedra side effect. This is why that Albuterol idea is looking better and better. For all I know, it may not be asthma at all, just allergies. But y'know what, I'd rather be safe and alive than suddenly stuck with no oxygen. Although that Fenugreek & Thyme combo that was recommended sounds interesting as a supplementation to whatever the doctor will recommend. Luckily, the inositol, magnesium, and evening primrose oil cocktail just kicked in. Not only am I breathing better, but I'm a hell of a lot more relaxed now. I like my vitamins.
See, as much as I love alternative therapy, I'm still all for Western medicine because in a pinch, it works. It does what it needs to. What bothers me is the insistence from doctors that we take pill after pill until we're choking on side effects that overwhelm the original problem. As well as this ridiculous issue of doctors refusing to admit when they're wrong, that it's possible the patient knows his or her own body better than someone who read about anatomy in class. Like Beth's story of the gyno who flat out told her that her hypoglycemia-Depo link theory was wrong and impossible. That drives me up a friggin' wall.
I go with Western when I have to and indiginous and Eastern when when it seems like a safer route for the time being. I'd rather have all options open, because sticking with one side or the other seems to make minds very narrow.
And I think this humorously backs me up:
