Oh, yeah...
Jan. 29th, 2004 09:35 pmOn the Metro this morning, I saw a billboard that stated that PETA was using contribution money to boycott research for AIDS and cancer because those instutitions MAY use animal research and PETA is a whiny bunch of idiots who complain when someone pokes a sewer rat with a stick because "animals are more important than dying humans!"
And may I add that this billboard quoted the president of PETA as saying, "If animal research were to yield a cure for AIDS, we'd be against it."
My sister died of AIDS.
FUCK YOU, PETA.
Okay, I'm done.
Anyone who disagrees with me can email me, and it's okay if you decide not to like me anymore. I'm going to bed. And yes, I think cosmetic testing on rabbits and such is very very very wrong. But PETA takes things to far worse extremes beyond just yelling about rabbits and I believe that is wrong. So there you have it.

Date: 2004-01-30 06:17 am (UTC)y'know....
when i was at NIMH, there was a poster in the corridor of PETA folks, in their 20s, waving signs. it said "thanks to animal research, these people can keep protesting for another 60 years".
did you know the govenment guidebook for animal research is thicker than the phone book? i should know, i had to read it. it covers fish, birds, elephants (no, really), etc etc etc. if an animal is in any way "visibly distressed", we can't touch it. the agency that oversees this (i forget its anagram) sends people in to labs as researchers, covertly, to test compliance. if you screw up, you are DONE. the ENTIRE institution loses its funding. so if, for example, someone in the lab down the hall is caught doing something naughty, NYU loses government funding, PERIOD.
most people don't know that.
and PETA doesn't mention it.
funny...
hey now

Oish...
Assholes
Date: 2004-01-30 09:03 am (UTC)And my father has been living with HIV and Hep C for over ten years now. Thank the fucking goddess' and gods and the rest of the universe that we have animals to try and improve these drug cocktails out on.
PETA needs to just get nuked!
