Chores don't have to be such
Apr. 21st, 2008 10:57 amDear Body:
You and I will be sitting down for a long talk soon. We did something yesterday that I am damn proud of, and I expect you to keep it up. Yes, the sweeping and mopping. With the ergonomic mop. It was fun. Yes, the fibromyalgia is a bitch and we get tired easily and the knees and back give out and we want to rest after ten minutes. But it was worth it to see clean floors in the kitchen and hallway and downstairs bathroom. And you know what? While we were mopping, the husband was phenomenally wonderful enough to run out and go to the grocery store and buy a Swiffer. Which I have been wanting for months. He even got a pack of Wet Cloths, specifically so we could clean the floors every day without breaking out the mop and bucket. Yes, every day. Just like scooping the three cat litter pans. Daily chore. Must be done. The cats need a clean toilet every day. The kitchen and hallway and bathroom floors should be swept or cleaned every single day. And with the Swiffer with the Wet Cloths, that can happen, because Swiffers are incredibly easy for us to use. I mean, we don't even have to bend over. Plus, it's good exercise. We need more exercise. We're getting weak muscles and love handles.
So, yes. Add Swiffering the floors to our list of daily chores. It'll be good for you and Brain, you know.
Love, Self
(Seriously, Adam is awesome. When I paused during my mopping, I explained, nearly in tears, exactly why I wanted a Swiffer because of the fibro, and he said, "Okay, don't worry, I'll go buy you one. Right now. I'll be right back. You keep mopping the floors. You'll have your Swiffer, my love." And he was out the door. And when he came back he said I should use the Swiffer on the dried floors to get any residue. And I promised I'd use it every single day and I thanked him profusely.
Is that a great husband or what?)
