This is where I'll be on Saturday. I'll be helping Linda with her Zosimos Botanicals table, so she can sell and promote products. This past Sunday, I went to her house to help get stuff ready. We'll be offering body scrubs, body butters, eye makeup, lip makeup, body wash, stuff like that. Yes, I'm only volunteering. My mother thinks it's weird. She doesn't understand that I only want free products and not money. If you're in the area, come visit. I'll be nervous anyway, with the crowds and all, so it'll be nice to see familiar faces if I can. Oh, and Linda's company is beloved by Skin Deep. Her products are so natural that they score zero to one on that website, meaning no chemicals or synthetics at all. She's often reformulating products to meet Skin Deep's standards (replacing castor oil with turkey red and tocopherols with pomegranate oil, for example, because Skin Deep suggested that castor oil and tocopherol weren't as safe as they thought). Sometimes I disagree with what Skin Deep considers unsafe, but many people look to it for skin care advice.

Date: 2008-04-30 07:34 pm (UTC)I can think of two right off the bat: Liquid Eyeliners by the brands Zuzu Luxe and Beauty Without Cruelty. Do a Google search, because I'm not sure where they sell. I know online they can both be found here:

I personally use MAC Technakohl creamy automatical eyeliner; I think it's made for sensitive eyes.

I hope you have a great time. These Fairs are really a blast tho' take a huge amount of energy!
BTW, I offered my friend Karan (who did the Entpreneur's Fair for me last week while I was doing the Synergy Fest)a cash percentage and she chose free products, too.
I really admire her Skin Deep rating. I was asked to provide INCI listing on ALL my products for their rating and I just wasn't able (willing?) to find the time to give them INCI listings & recipes on over 100 products! sheesh.. someday I may just do it...!
have fun!

Date: 2008-04-30 08:28 pm (UTC)Skin Deep can be a pain in the ass sometimes... Linda is really diligent!
Honestly, when it comes to good skin care, I'll take free products over money, because I'd probably spend that money on those products!

Date: 2008-05-01 05:32 pm (UTC)Maryland feels vastly different than California, Nevada, and Arizona (the only West Coast states I've been in). It actually feels less open spiritually. I feel more at peace on the West Coast, really.

Date: 2008-05-02 03:07 pm (UTC)Actually, so far, the only smell in the two I've made had the scent from the therapeutic ingredients... like the latte smell from pure coffea arabica oil.. mmmm. Also, the oils in the Souffle do have a rather funny nutty smell (tamanu, unfrefined shea, etc) so I was attempting to have oils which blended harmoniously; almond, honey, etc.
I will, for sure, experiment and see if the oils you mention (nice!) will work with the oily smells.
Love your dreams! The Shea Souffle Body Butter
http://stores.walk-in-beauty.net/Detail.bok?no=155
has been such a well-received product that I feel ready to add to the line. Great timing on the dream... Thank you and thank your inspiration!
(I hope it's ok if I link to the products we talk about since I just learned that some robot may find it & decide to put it on a search engine... thanks! ha!)

Date: 2008-05-02 03:13 pm (UTC)Hmmm... the Shea Latte Butter is good to apply to rashes and sunburns, right? I'd assume it is; I don't think the coffee butter would irritate further. I once used it when I got a rash due to my underwear chafing my groin, and it was the first moisturizer I grabbed. It worked fine.
(It's totally fine to link here; I do it all the time!)

and respiratory - Acute pulmonary edema (rat LD50)
duh! its a fine powder
i know i know i totally understand yours and Linda's point because people will accept skin deep's gauge and if there's a better alternative then it's seems obvious
i find it funny how skin deep will rate brands with a higher risk if they test on animals but then they site research based upon ingredients tested on animals.

Date: 2008-05-01 12:49 am (UTC)But well, Linda has to abide by their rules if she wants that low rating... sigh.
I often question Skin Deep. They seem like they know what they're doing, but a lot of ingredients I use are perfectly find and yet would fail their strict testings. Vicki, of walkinbeauty.net, tells me that she hasn't found the time to register with them, and I don't blame her.

I also use the deodorant. It's the simplest recipe for toothpaste I have ever seen. Two kinds of clay, Himalayan crystal salt, and that's it. Sometimes if I have stomach problems, I squirt some into my and and lick it off. It doesn't have much of a taste, and the Himalayan salt is extremely beneficial anyway -- it boasts 84 minerals and nutrients and is older and more pure than Dead Sea salt.

I use the Personal Care products here: the hair shampoo as a total body and face cleanser, and the mask and scrub as facial cleansers. I also have the toothpaste, which contains the salt plus xylitol and baking soda. I swallow it after brushing. I plan on buying several pounds of Himalayan crystal salt now.
