Power outage in the seat of power

What a fuckered morning. The metro was delayed due to severe problems in downtown DC, so I arrived at the Gallery Place station half an hour late. When I got outside, I noticed that all the traffic lights were out, all the stores were dark, and people were talking about power outages everywhere. My office building was without power, but the elevators still worked. My office wasn't open yet, even though people were coming in. I reached the top floor and found my boss, who told me that he would stay to run the library despite a lack of phones and computers. I gave him my cell phone number so he could tell me when the place got power back, and he sent me home. It took a while to get back. One metro station was completely closed due to electrical problems, and two stations had had fires. When I got to my house, I found Adam, Jason and Megan in the kitchen. Adam and I are now watching the news. We will soon drive to the doctor's office to see what can be done about his sciatica.
So, if anybody is or was in DC, let's exchange stories about PEPCO fuckery.
