All is well (turn tape over)

brightrosefoxI've been home since five, an hour earlier than normal. My boss let me go home an hour early. I came home to find Adam, who had the day off, playing games with all three cats. Rose is such a trip. She has that boundless baby-kitten energy, and she is savvy enough to know her place in the feline heirarchy of the house. It has been established that Jupiter likes Rose but doesn't quite want to touch her yet, and Luna tolerates Rose but doesn't want the kitten in her personal space yet. I'm fine with that for now. She has a lot of personality, this little one. Did I mention that she smiles in her sleep? And when she's curious or perplexed she gets some very human looks on her face? She's like a Disney cartoon. My little tiger.
I took a Soma as soon as I got settled. Now I feel much better. I feel like the pain has been a dream. I can still feel it, but it's so distant. Like an echo. For the next few hours, I will feel sort of normal.
I sincerely appreciate all the Funny Stuff you guys sent me on my other post. Keep them coming.
Adam, who is also still in pain, understands and is happy to help me.
It's a little like coming out of the other side of a traumatic experience. You're shaky and scared and relieved and you're not sure how you managed to make it out intact, but things are slowly getting better.
I would not wish this sort of pain on anyone, except maybe those who would do deliberate harm to kittens and brag about it, which sadly happens all the time.
I keep meaning to order Lilith Saintcrow's Watcher series and Society series on Amazon. One of these months, when I have the money.
I sometimes think about why I take so much care in my skin care and makeup routine. I do it because I know it will make me look beautiful, and when I see myself in a mirror, I will feel better. The concealer, the eyeshadow, the eyeliner, the mascara, the lipstick, it's all worth it.
