And then, the band began to play
May. 6th, 2004 11:43 amThings I am grateful for about going to the New Model Army show last night:
-Ria taking me there.
-Andrew taking me home.
-Seeing Bane, Beca and Watson.
-Seeing all the friends I've missed.
-Realizing that I've been to the club before.
-Jason and Ramon chasing away my pounding headache from the rain and tension.
-The catharsis of the songs, allowing me to break down in tears and release a flood I didn't know was dammed.
-Justin Sullivan's voice, the fire in his eyes, the power of his words.
-The comfort of Andrew and Masha as they hugged me and gave me water and made me feel close.
-When Justin sang "Ballad of Bodman Pil" and I recoiled and bent over as if struck, tears raining down my face as the truth slammed home again and again, and Watson quickly picked me up and lifted me above the crowd, so I could scream and sing and revel in the fire.
-My conversations with Lex, his unexpected hug, and his words "this is your moment."
You can buy every New Model Army CD and listen to every song as you fall asleep forever, but none if it compares to hearing and seeing Justin Sullivan live in concert. I have no more words.

Date: 2004-05-06 09:08 am (UTC)i'm sorry i was a little (or a lot) off--i guess even i am not immune to being a pain-in-the-ass drama queen every so often. *sigh*
hopefully we will be able to get together soon under less duress, for the both of us.
