So he called. We spoke briefly. He's at a nice Dallas hotel. And something strange had happened, too: Some random kid had given him a fake Shiva Stone. For no reason. With the message "Keep this. It will change your life." And then the kid ran off (probably because he stole the stone from a gift shop, but still).

Why do all the weird freaky random bizarre things always happen to Adam? Who else can stand in the doorway of a hotel restaurant waiting for friends and have some stranger run up to them, shove a sacred religious mystical stone (albeit a counterfeit) in their hand, and give them a mysterious fateful message?

I found a description online, that wasn't necessarily related to Indiana Jones:

"Many religions of the world have ancient references to sacred stones. In the Hindu religion it is the Shiva Lingam Stone. Shiva Lingam Stones are only found in the sacred Narmada River.
There are seven holy pilgrimage sites in India. The pilgrimage town of Amarkantak is located at 3000 feet in central India's, Vindhya mountain range. The sacred river Narmada is born here. Water from the basement of a single-room temple trickles into a small pool and then overflows into the larger one. Pilgrims bathe, drink holy water from the small pond and consult with pundits sitting on small platforms or under crude shelters. From there, the water emerges as a stream, eventually, becoming the mighty Narmada river.
Villagers gather this unique crypto-crystalline quartz from shallow river beds, in the dry season. Crypto-crystalline quartz is said to contain the "loftiest vibrations of all stones on Earth". Lingam describes the shape as egg-like, but hand-polished to balanced proportions. This often worshiped fertility stone is revered by Hindus as the embodiment of Lord Shiva. Lingam is also the sacred Sanskrit word for phallus. Each Lingam contains unique and natural sacred markings symbolic of the marks on Lord Shiva's forehead. In Tantra, the shape embodies masculine energy, dynamic expression and knowledge. The red markings on the stones called Yoni (sacred sanskrit word for vulva), depicts the feminine energy, wisdom and intuition.
Together, they unify the dualistic (male female) world into harmonious balance. The ancient practice of Feng Shui uses the sacred Shiva Lingam Stone to bring harmony by directing the energy flow throughout one's home. Folklore says that the Shiva Lingam contains a microscopic form of the entire universe."

Oh, really...?

Well, then!
