I've seen worse church signs. But this really does reflect the modernization of everything. Next thing you know, someone will rewrite the Bible to include email and the world wide web.
Oh, on a similar note... every time I get IM'ed on Yahoo Messenger by a lonely single guy wanting to score and have hot cybersex (which is ninety-eight percent of all the people who IM me), they have horrible grammar. Whatever happened to actually spelling out "you" and "are" and "ate" and other such simple words? Or using puncuation, like "I've" instead of "Iv"? And then there are such lovely phrases as "hey cud u guys help me w/ a problem thx evr so much?" and "hi how r u 2day? i think ur really hot r u single? Id luv 2 go out w/ u."
Are people truly becoming so illiterate?
Sorry. It's the grammar freak in me. I just get all snarly when I see that. The majority of these people are older than me. I've actually met young teenagers who have better grammar than the thirty-year-olds.

Date: 2004-08-08 03:25 am (UTC)I know that with the advent of SMS with 160 characters per message, young people are use lamerspeak to get their messages across quicker and use less space to do so.
My first exposure on IRC to someone using lamerspeak was a girl who was trying to netsex me, she asked why I was quiet, and I told her I couldn't understand her gibberish!
