brightrosefoxI think I've decided that I will, at least, never ever associate myself with Christianity. I just found out why they have Easter. It's a rip off of Ostara, the spring equinox. Fertility, rebirth, etc. With bunnies and baby chicks and colorful eggs. And then Christians had to go and "convert" it and keep the idea of the bunnies with the eggs and screw it up. And then there's Imbolc, Feb. 2nd, which Christians decided to take for themselves. It pisses me off.
Look, I know there are many well-meaning Christians out there and they're just following the rules of their bibles and churches and they're harmless. It's the old bloody let's-kill-everyone-and-forcibly-convert-their families reign that makes me want to scream. Yes, I know pagans haven't been much better but come on, paganism was around for thousands of years before that Jesus guy was even born! How dare they steal other people's ideas like that? I'm sorry, but I've just seen and heard too much. I don't like organized religion and "God is great, love God or go to hell" Bible thumpers. There's this reality show about finding a new supermodel, and a couple of the contestants are devout Christians, which is fine. Another is an atheist, which is fine. But one of the Christian girls just had to go rip into the atheist by shoving a Bible passage in her face and saying, "I'm not saying you're going to hell, but you're going to hell." And the Bible passage? Something about how if you don't believe in God you're a fool.
Call me a fool then. I am sick and tired of this. I have my own gods. I have my own beliefs. I do not need to be told I'm going to hell when I don't care or believe in hell. I am sick and tired of people asking if I'm a satanist or an evil witch. I am sick and tired of people assuming the word witch means evil. That Bible passage, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live," was badly mis-translated. It was meant for poisoners. Witches works with herbs. They were healers and well-respected. Those fuckers just had to go be afraid and burn everything. I can't stand it. Why can't people be more tolerant? Why did it take 17 years for that Texas ban on gay sex to be lifted? Why do so many Christian leaders have sticks up their asses? Fucking scared little rabbits.
And yes, I know pagans aren't sweetness and light either. They've slaughtered and poisoned and tortured and all that happy stuff too. But they respected other people. And at least they're not as in-your-throat.
