Fantastic weekend

brightrosefoxFriday night after work, I went to Union Station and wandered around the shops before meeting Jenn at the Amtrak gates. We rode the Metro into Rockville and met up with Charlotte, who took us back to her place for the weekend. The two days that followed were the most amusing, relaxing and entertaining that I've had in a long time. My Jinx was the same and wasn't -- older, wiser, worldlier, but still sweet, childlike. We reminisced a few times. Charlotte easily fit into our discussions. The three of us work very well together. We stayed up most of each night, just talking, watching movies, sitting around basking in the company, playing with the cats. During the day, we went to a few shops in Maryland, including Balducci's: the land of beautiful food. The only place I know that carries Port Salut cheese and specific exotic olives, and Adam's favorite chocolate bars.
On Monday morning, Adam took us girls to Crispy Juicy Chicken for breakfast, and then dropped us off at a Metro station so we could go to DC before Jenn's trip home. We walked from Metro Center to Union Station, and walked the halls and shops, similar to Grand Central, until seven, when we sat down at the Amtrak gate with our purchases (for me, Origin's Paradise Found body balm, The Body Shop shower gels in Grapefruit, Satsuma, and Passion Fruit, and from B. Dalton's, the new Elizabeth Kostova novel The Historian) and waited for the train. At eight, we hugged and kissed Jenn goodbye. Then Charlotte and I went back on Metro to Rockville, where Adam picked us up. We dropped Charlotte off and headed back home.
It's quiet now. We're watching cartoons (his parents gave us the credit for the cable and internet from their house, so we have real TV now). I will take a shower soon to wash away the weekend, and wait for Jenn's call that she got home safe. Now I have to decide what to do for my husband's birthday on Friday.
