Want to make Joanna really, really irritated for the rest of the day? Tell her something has been stolen and then tell her that something that should have happened long ago never happened.

I got to work this morning, and went into my office which is also a storage space for library paperwork and stuff, and I turned on the light and the computer, and I realized that my bottle of water was gone. The one I keep right next to my phone. I had left it there yesterday when I left work. It was gone. This was the second time. The first I had assumed was a fluke, since it was the first week of us moving into the new building; perhaps one of the night cleaning people had assumed it was trash (But it was on my desk! And half full!). I let it go. But today, I mentioned it to my boss, Ray. He said to tell the office manager, because it seemed as though one of the cleaning staff had stolen it (why, I don't know; it's just a friggin water bottle). I am annoyed, because that was a perfectly good reusable bottle. I didn't want to have to buy a new one. Ray gave me one of his. The office manager said she'd speak to the cleaning manager. She also said I shouldn't have to move anything from my desk, like I'd suggested (I was going to hide it in the drawer), because it was my desk after all; my stuff. *shakes head*

Work started. I did my morning routine. Ray and I chatted a little, and I mentioned the stress and issues with the insurance thing. Ray got very upset and worried. That made me decide to call Anthem again and ask what the hell was really going on. They put me in touch with someone in the claims department. She pulled up the files -- and told me something I really did not want to hear: My application had never been sent. They never got my application.
I was livid. But I held myself in check. I said that I had thought it was because of my disability, that they were debating how to add me, and she reassured me that no, no, they would have added me right away if they had the application. She put me on hold and called Adam's boss, Larry, the system administrator for the policy. As it turns out, Larry had given my application to his broker. The broker either never sent it to Anthem, or it got lost, or whatever. Who knows. The point is, it should have gotten there over a month ago, and it didn't. Larry and Adam didn't know that, though. Larry and Adam were told that my application was received and the insurance company folks were discussing a few things.
Look. I'm sorry, but if you never got the paperwork, fucking tell someone, all right? Assholes. I am not blaming anyone, certainly not Larry or the kind people I spoke to over the phone. It's most likely that the broker screwed up, though. Because he was also the person who spoke to the insurance company for Larry, and he outright lied. For weeks. Or, I don't know. I don't know what he said or did, but the point is, there were untruths spoken.
*grinds teeth*
So, Jennifer, my phone pal, said that Larry was going to fax over my application again, and as soon as Jenny got it, she would send it through and call me. As of right now, nearly two, I'm still waiting. I know Larry is very busy. But at least he knows what's really going on.
I wanted to hug Jenny. She was being so sweet. I think the only reason I decided not to find someone to tie down and have bamboo splinters inserted under their fingertips, was because Jenny spoke so kindly and compassionately. Also, I didn't want to upset Adam or his boss.

So that's what happened this morning.

Oh, and it was so blistering hot out when I went to lunch that I was afraid I'd catch on fire.

But I did have chocolate ice cream.
