*bows head in silence*
Prayer for the dead.
Amen, my friend.

Adam called me at work to tell me; he'd heard from the radio. I hadn't heard yet, since I'd been running the morning errands. I called up Yahoo News while on the phone with Adam, and something inside me turned gray. He told me, "Be thankful it hadn't happened in DC." Yes, thankful; lucky, because I take the subway every day to and from work. When he spoke, I heard his sadness and rage and worry for me, future worry; his wife taking the train every day in and out of the city that is seen as one of the most important and powerful cities in the world, a prime target. Was he even more worried when I worked on Pennsylvania Avenue?

I know that every day we need to thank the universe and our own dumb luck for being alive, but moments like this really reinforce that.

My heart extends to London and her children.

I live on the outskirts of London, in Wimbledon. I'm still shocked though, and you're right, it does make you worry about taking public transport, but I suppose that's what they want, to make us scared of traveling.

What were you doing when it happened? Did you feel anything like an aftershock? Or were you far away from the actual source?

That is what they want. Like what happened in Madrid. They live on our fear. But that's the neat thing about humans who have been hurt and scared. Fear just gets just angry.

It was quite early so I was eating my breakfast and checking my email, while watching television. I didn't feel anything, but I know someone who was just minutes away from the blast, and he said he felt an aftershock.

My boyfriend was there just a week ago, at Russell Square every single day, taking the buses constantly. My mother goes there for business meetings, my two sisters (one pregnant) stay in London and take the tube frequently. No one I know is hurt.
I am one lucky bugger.

Worried about my poor brother, who has been expecting something like this to happen in the UK for months. So sorry for everyone - and a reminder we need to address this war differently *somehow*
*sadness*

Is your brother in the UK?

Yes, but not on the same side of London as that bomb - but close enough. His partner is a surgeon in a hospital there and he told me she is currently dealing with alot of casualties, and he believes the death toll will be much higher.

When they said that there were 40 deaths, I was a little incredulous, myself. If more aren't dead from the blast, then certainly from all those injuries. I hope your brother's partner is prepared. I wish her luck and hope.
