Pray.
Please.
Last night, Adam's mother went to the hospital with severe abdominal pain. Her husband came home in the middle of the night alone. Adam has today off, his birthday. He called me just before noon to tell me what was happening.
Libby is in the ER, going to the Intensive Care Unit. Something has happened with the scar tissue and wounds from her stomach surgery. An abcess, an aneurysm, a hole, something. It may require more surgery. It may have the potential to become gangrenous.
She is at Shady Grove Hospital. Adam tried to tell her to go someplace else, like Montgomery General. Shady Grove is hideous. She had been waiting for four hours. The ER had been stocked full. Eighty people besides her had been waiting. It horrifies me. That wait might have cost her. Her body can't take all of this anymore.
Yes, I am scared.
We are just waiting, now. All we can do is wait. And breathe.
Adam is taking it better than I am. As he says, what can we do? What would getting upset help with? All we can do is wait. He took Ralph, the world's oldest dog, to the old house to play with the pool cleaner, Scooter, one last time. Kat is with him, recovering from her injuries sustained in a car accident in Florida (her arm got slashed up). We are all just waiting. Libby seems all right for now. For now. Take a breath, hold it.
Waiting.
Today is Adam's birthday.
Please don't let it be his mother's death day.
Please.
