Loving the hype
Jul. 18th, 2005 03:19 pmSo I just drank a bottle of something called O2Go Oxygenated Water. I guess it's like Penta Water. You know what's funny? All these websites calling it a waste of money, a crock of shit, total hype. You know what's funnier? I actually feel, ahem, "oxygenated". I really don't know or care who says what at this point. However, I do agree that all the hype is ridiculous. Perhaps oxygenated water is total bullshit and does absolutely nothing, and the rush of energy and ability to breathe really deeply that I now have is from something else. However, all the yelling about what a load of bullshit it is just makes it that much more appealing. I don't know why. How come Las Vegas has oxygen water at their oxygen bars? They pump oxygen into the hotels (boy do they! *bounce*) so yeah, we're breathing it in. And no, it probably doesn't absorb through the intenstines, so drinking it doesn't do anything. Sooo, how come I'm feeling something? Must be in my head. All the hype got to my brain.
Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic. Does this stuff work or doesn't it? And yes, I really do want to know what's causing the energy rush.

Date: 2005-07-18 07:43 pm (UTC)Remember the bounciness at Vegas? THAT I can understand. Inhalation all the way. But drinking... ingestion should not do the same thing. *thinks* It's gotta be something else.
Maybe the Schizandra's kicking in. That's a Chinese rejuvenating herb. Supposed to be an adaptogen. *browses Google* Oh, wait, here we go:

And...

"Enhances aerobic capacity and energy levels"
There we go, then.
My kingdom for a PH.D. or something, neh?

Date: 2005-07-18 07:50 pm (UTC)I'm not sure how much oxygen your body would be able to extract from the water during digestion. It might work because the small intestine contains capillaries simalar to the lungs so some of it might cross into the blood that way. Just a guess.

Date: 2005-07-18 08:11 pm (UTC)I didn't know about the lung-similar capillaries in the intestine, though. How WOULD that work?

Date: 2005-07-18 08:20 pm (UTC)So maybe I have a different reaction to supplemented oxygen? Maybe even the tiniest oxygen boost is enough to send my energy and stamina sky high. I climbed five flights of stairs in a row and wasn't even winded. That never happens, not unless I have a lot of oxygen in me. Like if I take a supplement with Arginine Alpha Keto-Glutarate.

Date: 2005-07-18 08:55 pm (UTC)Though lungusa has this to say:
"Oxygen is also being dispensed for recreational purposes at oxygen bars to patrons who believe that inhaling the pure oxygen will cause their bodies to function even better than normal. Inhaling oxygen recreationally is unlikely to have a beneficial physiological effect."
