So, I may have finally found my best proper pain medication management: One Soma in the morning, one Klonopin in the morning, one Ultram in the afternoon, maybe a second Soma or Ultram in the early evening if I really hurt, one Flexeril before bed. Do this for three months, then stop and check with the doctor before repeating. That way, muscle pains, tension pains, nerve pains, joint pains, stress pains, and anxiety pains are managed carefully.

Beyond that, I will be looking up qigong or tai chi classes, physical therapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy. I will continue to apply my various pain relieving creams and lotions containing powerful oils and extracts like helichrysum, copaiba, andiroba, acai, mangosteen, cupuacu, goji, sea buckthorn, tamanu, frankincense, coconut, neem, rooibos, calendula, palo santo, arnica, and peptides.

A while back, I was asked why I prefer helichrysum oil in my skin care. It's costly, it's rare, and it doesn't have the prettiest fragrance. But it packs a fucking punch. (Also, it works so well with tamanu and sea buckthorn to smooth out scars and blemishes that it makes me weep.)

My current favorite helichrysum-infused products that give me the best emotional reactions:

I would add another Etsy product but it's not up yet. It is, sort of, but in a smaller size. The larger size will be avaiable soon. I helped create the product my very self. It's amazing. It's here:

Also, as far as aromatherapy goes, helichrysum is one of the best when it comes to emotional and spiritual therapy. It's like if a precious gemstone were a flower extract.

The actor who will play the eleventh Doctor Who has been announced.
I won't mention his name -- not just because of the spoiler, but because I have no idea who he is. But his photos look Doctor-y. He's very young, though. We'll see.

Also, people on the internet need to STOP putting apostrophes in plural words. I am now seeing it in public. Signs, for example, especially restaurant menus. I don't know how it started, but it's insane. For fuck's sake, people, not every plural word has an apostrophe. Stop it. *screams, tears hair*

I am in slightly less pain. As in, not wanting to scream, not taking baby steps, not gasping pitiably while shifting position. I haven't bruised from my fall, but I ache. My shoulders, too, are throbbing.
Interestingly enough, my new beloved Stone Mountain purse doesn't strain my shoulder or arm as much as my former handbags did. I wonder if that is because the size and depth of the purse redistributes the weight of the stuff inside. There's just more room for my "everything but the sink" purse mentality. Luckily this purse will last me years and years. I remember someone once compared the life of a Stone Mountain purse to that of a house cat.
I may or may not take a Soma later, depending on how the pain is. In the meantime, I took some Cat's Claw, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, and Cayenne. Also, I have acai blueberry juice. I've been doing squats and lunges in front of the TV, and I've done a few moves that my Pilates book says is Pilates (because the yoga book didn't have them).

I also took a deep, long inhale from the bottle of Sun Protective Lotion and from the bottle of Psyche Goddess Lotion. Aromatherapy, you see. Helichrysum, Pink Lotus, Bali Jasmine, Lavender, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Rose, Orchid, Neroli. Anti-stress, anti-anxiety, pain-relieving.

Random question: On Saturdays, what time is your mail usually delivered? I don't mind the walks back and forth to the community mailboxes, but I'd like to have a general time, you know?

I've posted about this before, but I feel it bears repeating, for me anyway.

Vicki's Sun Protection Lotion contains some fancy, exotic, very special essential oils: Jasmine Sambac, Pink Lotus, Helichrysum, Chamomile, Lavender, and Cedarwood. A while back, I had massaged the lotion into my hands and wrists, enough to smell the fragrance strongly every time I raised my hands to my face. And then I spent a few hours in a blissful, tranquil state, in which I relaxed enough to the point where my chronic pain stopped bothering me.
Hypnotic aromatherapy oils, see?
I just did it again. It still works. For back spasms. And sciatica.
I am all tranquil and whee. *giggle* The pain insists, "Um, I'm flaring here, pay attention." And I smile and say, "Screw that, I wanna sing trippy songs from the 1960s."
The pain is still there, no question. But I feel as though I have just taken a painkilling drug.
Who says aromatherapy doesn't work?
Also, my hands are really soft and smooth now. And protected from the sun. Bonus.

*standard disclaimer: if you buy this lotion, you may or may not have the same experience. if you do, fantastic, tell me about it. if you don't, at least you will have a moisturizing sunscreen that smells good.

I applied the Sun Protective Lotion again today, to my hands and wrists and neckline, and to my hairline. Now that I'm getting used to it, the extraordinary blend of jasmine sambac and pink lotus -- flanked by helichrysum, chamomile, lavender, and cedarwood -- is opening up parts of my brain in fascinating ways. There is that spark again, that deep and fascinating release, triggering a flood of endorphins and dopamine. The gentle euphoria that more is calm and flowing than anything else. The sense of total meditative serenity. Absolute relaxation, tranquility in every nerve and muscle. My body is satisfied and at peace.
Vicki spoke of releasing resistance: "It's as if some part of our sensibilities want to brace against the depth of erotic & deeply sensual & powerful call these flowers have. So as we allow the fragrance in, we relax a kind of resistance we 'normally' carry. It makes sense that pain would also release as resistance is let go."
Jasmine oil has never been one of my favorite florals precisely due to its intense, heavy, sensual scent. And yet as I get older I find myself able to appreciate it more; I see and smell and taste it in a different way now. Pink Lotus is one of those oils that makes me happy every time I smell it. It is crisp and fresh and powerful, sweet and deep and rich, and unlike any other floral in the world. It blends incredibly well with jasmine in a way that's hard to describe. Jasmine is a fragrance that leans more toward maturity and wisdom; pink lotus is balanced between maturity and youthfulness, wisdom and innocence. Pink lotus is, to me, the most serene and tranquilizing lotus scent, and also the most playful, the most diverse. This explains it pretty well.

I haven't taken any supplements today, nothing for pain or fatigue. I just kept breathing in the scent of the lotion on my skin. An experiment. One that would probably fail actual scientific studies, one that skeptics will laugh at, one that probably has more to do with my brain's personal wiring than the oils themselves. But my experiment is working. My pain levels are very low, my energy levels are fairly high, I feel calm and collected and focused. Physically, I am deeply relaxed. And I have such an amazing sense of peace and comfort and absolute rightness with myself.

I think that if I had to recommend an aromatherapy blend for fibromyalgia, this would be it: Pink Lotus, Jasmine Sambac, Helichrysum, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, and Cedarwood.
Very expensive, but worth it. Thankfully, Vicki's alchemy is affordable!

Dear LJ friends,
Can anyone recommend a perfume, perfume solid, perfume oil, or fragrant skin cream, that contains the essential oils of Rose, Frankincense, and Neroli? I would like for these three oils to be the only scent, or if not that, the main notes. If it has other oils, I'd prefer them to be along the lines of chamomile, vanilla, sandalwood, orange, citrus, etc...
Thank you.
Love, Jo.

PS. It may be difficult to believe, but I have yet to find a BPAL oil that I might want to wear. Seriously.
