Psychology Today: Cult of Clean
Why the massive panic over invisible threats? On the surface, it seems an earnest effort to promote health. But a closer look suggests that we feel a deep distrust of our bodies and profound pessimism about human nature: The backyard is a hotbed of creepy crawlies, my body is brimming with toxins, and the germs in my kitchen are just waiting to rise up and infect me!

Adam doesn't usually eat lunch at all during his work days. Sometimes he'll come home at seven in the evening, and dinner for me will be lunch for him or even breakfast. He's been worrying me. Then again, he is always on the road and can usually only grab a small snack that he can eat while driving. He says he's fine with it, that he's too busy to eat anyway. Sometimes if he's at a hotel or convention, he'll get a meal during breaks. But this doesn't happen as often as I'd like.
I can't help it; after years of anorexia, I feel hurt and afraid when someone I love actually chooses to not eat and instead throw themselves into work. He's perfectly healthy, but one of these days something is going to give.

Can cats make you crazy?

*tilts head, frowns*
Ummm...
Not sure how to react to this. Probably giggle a lot. Then go home and sweep up around the litter box in the bathroom and clean the floor as usual.

I highly doubt everything is so... cut and dry. Honestly, I felt like I was reading mediocre fanfiction written by a teenager. The journalist needs to do better. While I do believe that there is a parasite that can alter human neurology and behavior to a degree, this particular article smacks of sensationalistic journalism.

Although I sincerely love one of the comments:
"'Women infected with this parasite tend to be hypersexual'
I just called home and told my wife we're getting a cat."

And that should be the best reaction to this article.

The rest of the comments are funny too.

Insecure relationships may drain immune system

...but an interesting read nonetheless.

New Advice: Don't Sit Up Straight
Before I read the article, I was indeed sitting straight up, spine perfectly aligned. My lower back pain, shoulder pain, and sciatica were flaring. After I read the article, I leaned all the way back in my chair, until my shoulder blades and rib cage rested against the back of the chair. My feet were flat on the floor. And gradually, the sciatic pain, the lower back ache, and the shoulder pain began to lessen.
This is something I shall keep in mind.
